The Principle
The Process
In the example to the left we have a grossly over exaggerated, very basic, brand new hypothetical company.
The company only has one person in each position.
The owner has decided to implement JOB COSTING from day one, to identify bottlenecks and under performing staff members
As can be seen from the example your painter and your shipping clerk will be sat twiddling their thumbs while the first job reaches them, therefore making them unproductive but with a valid reason.
Once the business is in full production, the poor old General Worker will be run off his feet, which will slow down the procedure. (The owner will probably ask himself how he can overcome this problem? The answer in this instance is quite simple, hire another general worker.
If you have staff members sitting idle once the system has been running for a while you can investigate the cause.
Do your staff require more training?
Do you need to employ additional people?
Are your staff taking chances?
With Sentri Systems Job Costing these problem areas will be highlighted for you allowing for the correct decisions to be made. All from one easy to use software system.
You no longer need to hire expensive Work and Motion "experts", the answers are already available to you.
Employee Cards
Each employee who is using the Job Costing System is issued with a Unique QR CODE from the software. They will be required to use this card whenever they clock on or off a job.
Job Numbers
If you print your job card/works order from a Microsoft Office application e.g. Excel we can help you to modify your existing document to accommodate the QR CODE for your Job number. Otherwise if you are using a third party application you can print a Job number sticker from the Job Costing System.
Task Numbers
Task numbers are attached to the wall to the left hand side of the tablet
Each job is made up of various tasks, which will change from job to job.
Each employee is allocated a skill level which is made up of the tasks he is allowed to, or is qualified to perform. If an employee works on a task that is not included in his skill level, either by accident or by design, it will be flagged and the appropriate action can be taken.
Stop Codes
Stop codes are attached to the wall to the right hand side of the fingerprint reader.
This is a list of all the possible reasons why an employee has stopped working on a specific task. Serious reasons e.g. waiting for materials, generate an email which is sent to the necessary managers.
Clocking On Job
On the fingerprint reader the employee presses the F! button. He will be prompted for his employee number. Here he will scan his employee card. Next he will be asked for the Job number, he scans the barcode on the job card/works order. He will then be required to scan the barcode for the task, which is on the left hand side of the fingerprint reader. He can now start working.
Clocking Off Job
Once the employee has completed the task he needs to tell the system that that particular task is complete. On the tablet he will be once again be prompted to scan his employee code (Form his employee badge). He then needs to tell the system why he is clocking off the job. The exit codes/Job Stop reasons are on the right hand side of the fingerprint scanner.
He can now clock on to his next job/task.
